Statement on Israel and Gaza

New Jersey Peace Action calls for a lasting ceasefire and de-escalation of violence in Israel and Gaza. We also call for the release of all Israeli hostages and those Palestinian prisoners, most particularly children, who are innocent of any crimes. It is imperative for humanitarian aid to be widely accessible in Gaza and for all the bombings to end. While Hamas must be held accountable for the brutal attack on Israel on October 7, this does not condone the ongoing harrowing bombings of the citizens of Gaza in the name of “routing out” members of Hamas. In addition, we oppose any additional U.S. military aid to Israel. We also condemn all forms of bigotry, particularly the increasing rise of antisemitism and Islamophobia. All people deserve to be treated with respect and dignity and to not live under the severe constraints of occupation and fear for their lives.
